Combining Specialist Arts Training with Application Support
You may wonder: if I already have an education consultant, why do I also need LAMT Musical?
The answer is simple: the two provide different kinds of support.
Education consultancies are experienced in managing university applications and the wider admissions process. However, applications for Musical Theatre, Acting, Music and other performing arts courses require additional specialist knowledge. Students may need to prepare auditions, self-tapes, songs, monologues, interviews and portfolios, while also choosing schools and courses that suit their individual artistic strengths and goals.
Many independent music colleges, drama schools and specialist arts institutions also operate outside the partner networks of general education consultancies. LAMT Musical therefore continues to provide specialist support with arts institutions, course choices and the application process itself.
Our new partnerships also give us access to more direct communication channels with participating institutions. Previously, when we needed to clarify application requirements, audition details or other information, we would generally contact institutions by email, which could sometimes mean waiting for weeks for a response. Through StudyIn and UKEC, we can now access more efficient channels of communication where applicable, helping us obtain information and resolve questions more quickly.
From Application to Audition
Most importantly, LAMT Musical remains focused on the part of the process that requires specialist artistic expertise.
We support students with Vocal Coaching, Acting, Speech and Text, Song and Monologue Preparation, Self-Tape Preparation and Interview Coaching, helping them develop and refine the materials they need for their applications and auditions.
Using an education consultancy does not affect a student’s admission outcome, eligibility or scholarship opportunities. Universities and arts institutions continue to assess each applicant according to their own admissions criteria. The role of our partner consultancies is to support the application and administrative process, while LAMT Musical focuses on the artistic preparation and specialist guidance that performing arts applicants need.
Together, LAMT Musical, StudyIn and UKEC provide students with a more complete support system, combining professional arts training with experienced application guidance.
